Buying Vans – Scrappage Scheme Helps

The scrappage scheme incentive for vans is reported to have boosted registrations of vehicles for the third successive month in August. The scrappage scheme incentive for vans is reported to have boosted registrations of vehicles for the third successive month in August. This seems to be confirmed by the latest figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, in short SMMT. According to the statistics, in August, every fourth vehicle in the vans segment was bought as new and attributable to the scrappage scheme incentive. And in the commercial vehicle sector figures say of a total of some 1,700 vans have been registered since the beginning of the scheme. August figures show that around 245 were registered in August, which accounts for 3.3 percent of overall van registrations that month. The business fact is, however, that registrations of vans were down again in August looking at the overall economic and market situation and comparing registration and sales figures to previous months. The information on a slight increase in the number of registration of vans is, on the other hand, a good signal to the motor industry and used vans market that a sort of stability is slowly emerging. As many experts marked, the scrappage scheme is proving hugely popular with drivers and operators and has provided an important and awaited boost to the UK motor industry in general. It could be then only a matter of time when the right balance comes back to the vans sector and prices will remain at a reasonable level.
